Hamlet (The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark) is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. It was written somewhere between 1599 and 1601.
It is Shakespeare's longest play, set in Denmark. The play depicts Prince Hamlet and his revenge against his uncle, Claudius. Claudius has murdered his father in order to seize the throne and marry his mother.
The ghost of the King of Denmark tells his son Hamlet to avenge his murder by killing Claudius. Hamlet wanted to seek revenge from his uncle. On the other hand, his uncle fearing for his life, also devises plots to kill Hamlet.
The play ends with a duel, during which the King, Queen, Hamlet's opponent and Hamlet himself are all killed.
