One driving technique that could increase your fuel economy is to avoid unnecessary idling.

Turn off your engine if you have been waiting for more than few seconds (without traffic). Contrary to popular belief to restart your car it does not burn more fuel than leaving idling. In fact, idling for just few seconds consumes more fuel than restarting the engine.

Idling is harder on the engine than re-starting. Restarting often results in wear and tear rates of a few dollars a year, and idling leaves petrol residues that damage engine parts and create high repair costs over time.
