The African country, Ethiopia was most successful in resisting colonization.
Ethiopia is considered as never colonized. It was occupied by Italy from 1936–1941. But it did not result in a lasting colonial administration.
Traditional warriors, farmers and pastoralists as well as women defeated a well-armed Italian army in the northern town of Adwa. The outcome of this battle ensured Ethiopia's independence, making it the only African country never to be colonized.
