Al Capone was the famous Prisoner played the Banjo in a prison band.

During 1934, one of America's most notorious prisoners was carted off from an Atlanta Penitentiary to the United State's highly advanced prison. He was non other than, gangster Al Capone.
In new prison on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay, he took up music and formed a small band which gave regular Sunday concerts for other prisoners inside Alcatraz. The band was named "The Rock Islanders". Al Capone plays banjo in the band.
Capone even wrote a song (love theme), "Madonna Mia" which was published in 2009 after his death.
