3. Normal and rough handling, and accident conditions
Type B radioactive material packaging is designed and tested to withstand normal and rough handling, and accident conditions.
The transport of high-intensity radioactive material requires packaging of Type B.
The amount of radioactivity allowed in Type B packaging is greater than Type A packaging. Because these may contain materials with radioactivity values to be harmful if released to the environment.
Examples of such items include radiography sources, research and industrial sources, and used nuclear reactor fuel.
