Control rods is inserted into the reactor core to reduce reactor power or to shut down the reactor.

Control rods are used in nuclear reactors to control the rate of fission of nuclear fuel(Uranium or Plutonium). Their invention includes chemical elements such as boron, cadmium, silver, hafnium, or indium, which can absorb large amounts of neutrons without fission.
