1. Write Dear Sir or Madam

You write 'Write Dear Sir or Madam' in the salutation, if you don't know the recipient's exact name and gender.


Explanation:

If you don't know the exact name & gender of recipient and want to be formal, then go with "Dear Sir/Madam".

If you have the name but not the gender, go with "Dear First Name, Last Name".
