The Urals is one of the world's oldest mountain ranges [dated at 250 to 300 million years ago]. It forms the natural separation between the regions of Europe and Asia.
It runs from north to south through Russia (west), from the coast of the Arctic Ocean to the river Ural and north-western Kazakhstan.
The Urals has an area of about 2,225,000 kmĀ². The highest point in the Urals is Mount Narodnaya in Russia. Its elevation is about 1895 meters.
The length of mountain range is about 2,500 kilometers passing through several regions of Russia and Europe.
The Ural mountain range is rich in Chalcopyrite, Nickel oxide, gold, platinum, Chromite and Magnetite ores, coal, Bauxite, Talc, Fireclay, and abrasives.
