LAN Network Design is the dividing of the whole network into discrete layers where each layer provides specific functions.

Definition of a Two-tier LAN Network Design: The LAN design which can collapse the distribution and core layers into one layer to server the needs of a small location with few users is called two-tier LAN network design.

All LAN network designs requires an access layer but a two-tier LAN network design don't. It can collapse the distribution and core layers into single layer.
